Twilight is a series of young adult novels by Stephanie Meyer, turned into movies from 2008. The romantic tale is a huge hit with teens and adults alike, and its vampire theme makes an excellent choice for a birthday or Halloween party.

To theme the party with more of a romantic vampire feel, try these ideas:
- Gothic or medieval goblets
- Vintage or silver platters and plates
- Black or blood red velvet tablecloth

- Bake a classic Red Velvet cake. This is a sweet, rich layer cake made with red food coloring to create a dark red, bright red or brown-red color. It is a mixture of chocolate and vanilla in taste, topped with creamy white icing. You could adapt this for cookies or cupcakes too
- Decorate a birthday cake or cupcakes with Twilight cake toppers. Show off cupcakes on a fancy tiered stand, and use a red or black cake stand for the main cake
- Recreate Bella's birthday cake from New Moon - either a wonderful pink cake with roses like the one in the book, or the striped cake topped with Gerbera daisies in the movie
- Create blood red drinks with names such as Vampire’s Bite or Volturi Venom. Use red juices for younger teens or mix some light alcoholic cocktails if guests are old enough. You could purchase or borrow a party fountain and fill it with blood red delights!
- You could also feature a chocolate fountain at your party. Dye the chocolate blood red with edible coloring!
- Make cookies or other foods in the shape of wolves, lambs or apples
- Create a black and white chessboard pattern on top of cakes
- Serve main dishes or buffet dishes with a red theme – use apples, red peppers, tomatoes and more
Twilight Party Entertainment
As well as taking advantage of the official Twilight board game and Scene It? DVD game, provide entertainment in the form of games such as these:
- As each guest arrives, anoint them with fake blood or a moon-colored shimmer dust to represent their transformation into a vampire!
- The cover of Breaking Dawn features a chess board. Hold a chess tournament, or if it is a summer party, use one of the giant garden chessboards!
- Twilight Treasure Hunt – hide symbolic items from the story for guests to find. You could make it extra spooky by having them hunt by fairy light in the garden at sundown!
- Kissed by a Vampire – secretly pick someone to be the vampire. Get everyone to stand still and turn out the lights – the vampire then kisses a guest on the cheek, and they must "fall" to the ground in a faint. The vampire must then move away before the lights go back on. The game continues until the other players correctly guess who the vampire is – otherwise, the vampire wins!
Twilight Party Decorations
You can find Twilight party supplies online and these include balloons, crepe paper rolls and banners. You can also display posters or life-size stand ups around the room. Take inspiration from the books and films by using objects, colors and other meaningful symbolism to decorate.
Think sumptuous textures, like velvet or silk, and dark colors, such as black, blood red or werewolf gray. Candlelight will help to set the right atmosphere!
Twilight Party Favors
Fill party bags or make a paper mache piñata to break open at the end. This could be in the shape of a wolf’s head, a chess piece or other symbolic item.
Add Twilight candy, blood red chocolates, charms, and miniature items such as wolves, lions, lambs, hearts and chess pieces.
Twilight Costumes
A superb way to set the scene is encouraging guests to dress up in Twilight costumes. Do not overdo the vampire theme – no fake fangs or coffins – Twilight is all about romance and bewitchment. Think Bella's party gown or Edward-style shirts, complemented by red apple jewelry.
