Throw a fabulous fairy tea party or magical fairy birthday for little girls! From sparkling wands to fluttering wings, here is your guide to creating that fairy magic.

Little girls love fairies, from Tinker Bell to the Flower Fairies. Throwing a fairy birthday party is the perfect excuse to go mad with glitter, sparkle, fancy dress and other enchanted ideas!

Fairy Party Themes

First you need to choose a fairy theme for your child’s party. Suggestions include:

  • A Tinker Bell party or Disney Fairies party
  • A Flower Fairies party
  • A fairy tea party
  • A fairy garden party (perfect for summer!)
  • An Abby Cadabby party
  • A Felicity Wishes party
  • A Rainbow Fairies party
  • A fairies and princesses party

Fairy Party Supplies

There are many different fairy party supplies available in shops and online. As well as the popular Disney ranges, there are various other options including garden fairies, flower fairies, pink fairies and fairy princesses. You can mix and match or go for one set style! Don’t forget to decorate with pretty balloons and lots of twinkling fairy lights.

Items to consider obtaining include:

  • Plates and cups
  • Banners, balloons and streamers
  • Party bags, favors and piñatas
  • Tablecloths and centerpieces
  • Party hats and masks
  • Invitations and thank you cards
  • Gifts
  • Costumes
  • Fairy wings
  • Magical wands
  • Sparkly tiaras or crowns

Fairy Party Food

The most obvious choice of food for a fairy party is, of course, the fairy cake! Making these little cakes is easy, and there are hundreds of different ways to top them, such as buttercream, icing, rice paper toppers, cupcake rings, pieces of fruit or sweeties. For a perfect fairy theme, make butterfly cakes with sponge wings and top with strawberries, or top plain cakes with stars and edible glitter.

Other ideas for fairy food include:

  • Cookies, brownies, cupcakes or even sandwiches in the shape of fairies, wings, butterflies, stars, hearts and flowers
  • A fairy birthday cake – this can range from a sculpted fairy or fairy castle, to a round sponge with a fairy face on, or even a mountain of fairy cakes in the shape of a cake!
  • Fairy Flowers – make fruit, cocktail sausages and other party snacks into flower shapes
  • Rainbow Fairy Punch – use different colored fruit juices to freeze into ice cubes and place in bowls of fruit juice for a yummy rainbow drink
  • Magic Fairy Nectar – make chocolate or honey cakes with melt-in-the-middle centers!
  • Fairy Fancies – make fairy or fairy accessory shaped desserts from classics such as banana splits, jellies and ice cream sundaes

Fairy Party Games

Thinking up fairy party games is great fun, as there is always an element of magic involved!

  • Set up a fairy treasure hunt, with hidden clues to help find sparkly jewels
  • Adapt the classics, such as playing pin the wings on the fairy!
  • Learn a few magic tricks, or hire a magician. There are even fairy entertainers available who will dress up as fairies for parties!
  • Hide pictures of different fairy flowers and play Spot the Flower
  • Magical Statues – make up your own version of musical statues, where children are frozen when the music stops, but some can come back to life if a nominated fairy waves her magic wand over them – others have to wait until the next time the music stops

Fairy Party Activities and Crafts

Children love making things. Use fairies in all sorts of fun and interesting ways.

  • Run a “Design a Fairy” competition where guests can draw a fairy or sculpt one from Play-Doh
  • Tell a magical fairy story
  • Make fairy cakes together, or decorate ready-baked ones
  • Make fairy wands with cardboard stars and glitter

Fairy Party Favors

Ideas for gifts to go in fairy party bags include fairy keyrings, charms, stickers, glitter, tiny wands, tiny fairy figurines or fairy candy. You can either fill favor boxes with the goodies, or stuff a piñata and get the children to break it open at the end of the party and have fun filling their own bags!

Fairy Costumes and Fairy Wings

From simple fairy wings, floral headbands and magic wands to full-blown fairy costumes, there are plenty of ways to encourage fancy dress at your party. From fairy princess outfits to Tinker Bell costumes, glittery wings to pixie hats, you will be spoiled for choice and can buy or hire in the costumes, or even make your own!

Alternatively, pick a theme where children come dressed as their favorite fairytale character, or their favorite fairy from films, books or TV.

With lots of imagination, sparkle and fun, you can organize a fairy party that will be enjoyed by all ages!
